Now in its 30th season, the Peninsula Girls Chorus (PGC), a distinguished and innovative
choral program for young women, has opened a search for a Development Director ideally beginning September 2024. The PGC office and rehearsal space is located in Burlingame, California.
The Development Director’s responsibilities are listed below. These responsibilities include
but are not limited to:
Donor Cultivation and Engagement
● Develop meaningful cultivation, solicitation, trust and stewardship to engage donors
including Board members, current parents, alumni parents, grandparents, alumni,
audience members, high capacity donors and volunteers.
● Inspire and guide the development and execution of the Annual Fund, spring
fundraising events, including gala, small gatherings and individual meetings.
● Coordinate logistics, preparation and follow-up for events and individual
prospect/donor meetings.
● Create, refine and grow the donor recognition plan
● Create a plan for tracking and communicating with donors. Keep accurate files and
records, process acknowledgement and gift receipts/thank-you letters.
Grant-writing, Foundation, Corporate Support
● Search out, apply for, write and evaluate grants and proposals to government,
foundation, corporation and private funders that support the mission and program
goals of the Chorus.
● Manage grant documentation and timelines
Marketing Support
● Be a highly visible presence and tireless advocate for PGC and its programs
● Maintain social media platforms with relevant and appropriate content
● Organize new and innovative ways to communicate and engage community
● Generate ad revenue and get advertisement copy
Adjunct Support
● Serve as supplement and backup to Chorus Manager as needed
● Tour Support (job does not necessarily require traveling)
Skills Needed
● Two years of experience in fundraising for a nonprofit organization with proven success
in arts grant writing.
● Outstanding persuasive written and oral communication skills (including email/online,
letter, telephone and in-person formats)
● Ability to cooperate and collaborate with both internal and external constituents of
diverse backgrounds
● Propensity to learn quickly and demonstrate curiosity, initiative and drive to ensure
results. Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through
● High degree of independence in managing projects
● Tact, discretion and integrity handling confidential information
● Strong computer skills required. Proficiency and comfort with technology, including
Apple computers, and applications like Google Sheets & Google Docs.
Hours
Approximately 20 hours per week; hybrid remote and in-person position. Occasional evening
and weekend work required, particularly during audition and concert season.
Compensation
Pay range, commensurate with experience, is $45,000-$50,000. 2 weeks paid time off in July,
2 weeks paid time off during the winter holidays and 1 week paid time off at spring break. PGC
provides up to 10 days of sick leave per year. Medical and other health-related benefits are not
offered.
