Family & Child Empowerment Services (FACES) SF provides families who live and work in San Francisco with high-quality early childhood education and enrichment; job support, training, and placement; and comprehensive family support services and referrals. The Role:

The Grant Development Manager is a key member of the Advancement team at FACES SF, responsible for managing a portfolio of grant applications and reports as well as seeking new opportunities for support from foundations, corporations and government entities. Reporting to the VP of Advancement, the Grant Development Manager will be part of a collaborative and dynamic cross-functional team focused on growing contributed revenue for the organization as it implements a new strategic plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Grant Management & Reporting (40%)
    • Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant reports and proposals for current supporters. In collaboration with internal partners, draft narratives, budgets, and additional materials, such as logic models and timelines, for institutional grant applications. Maintain files, calendar of proposal and report deadlines, and database records on grant prospects, submissions and deliverables. Support relationship management with key contacts, including scheduling meetings and site visits, writing acknowledgement letters, attending bidders conferences, and providing follow-up information and documentation to funders as needed.
  • Proposal Development & Prospecting (40%)
    • Identify new foundation, corporate, and government prospects. Write letters of inquiry, concept papers, and research briefings. Create gift opportunities with internal partners to meet organizational priorities and pursue funding in support of these goals. Work as a thought partner with program managers to develop compelling and persuasive grant applications, including project descriptions, needs statements, objectives and outcomes, and project budgets.
  • Professional Development & Organizational Responsibilities (20%)
    • Keep abreast of funding trends and relevant mission-based research through publications, professional networks, and educational events to ensure the organization is exploring innovative opportunities while adhering to best practices. Participate in cross-department committees and teams. Work with internal partners to build systems for information gathering & sharing.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of grant writing and/or public funding management experience, especially with historically marginalized families and communities; local Bay Area experience is a plus but not required.
  • Strong written, analytical, and verbal communication skills.
  • Track record of working effectively with program leaders to coordinate and successfully deliver grant projects. Strong knowledge base around program budgeting and operations data management.
  • Demonstrated project management skills. Ability to take initiative, establish priorities, work independently, and make progress on a variety of projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with CRMs, collaboration, research and project management tools required.
  • Ability to analyze complex data sets and present results to multiple audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate and connect with a wide range of stakeholders.

Salary Range

$75,000 - 85,000
